Hi I'm Sherry Ayles, owner of Customary Couture in Cedar Park, Texas and I'm here to give you some tips on picking out the perfect wedding gown for an older bride. The things you'll be looking for are simple silhouettes, empire waists, wide straps, shirring at the waist and untraditional colors. My first tip for an older bride would be to go simple. You're probably not having the traditional great big wedding so go with a simple silhouette, a little bit of a strap. You might even want to go with a champagne color, a little bit darker than your original white or ivory. My second tip is to go with a little more sophisticated silhouette, a wide strap, empire waist is going to give you the illusion of height and draw everything up towards your face. My third tip is to go with something a little more casual if you are doing a backyard wedding this would be a perfect option. It's soft and flowy. It's going to be nice and full to camouflage any imperfections and it would be the perfect option for a backyard wedding. My fourth option would be to go with a chiffon sheer dress. It's going to be really forgiving on the tummy area. It's got an empire waist again which is going to accentuate your bust line, nice thick strap again. You don't want to be pulling up your dress all during your wedding and then this one also comes with the corset back which is really nice at cinching in your waistline to give you a nice hourglass shape. This is Sherry Ayles with Customary Couture and these have been my tips for picking the perfect dress for an older bride.
