"Hello this is Tom Sapp. Tom Sapp Photography, we're going to talk about where to find photography equipment. This is the part that scares most people a lot. Right when you go to purchase a piece of equipment, we're talking a thousand dollars in some cases. Sometimes more, sometimes eight thousand dollars. For instance, this camera here you've got about one thousand five hundred in the lens, you've got the body that was five thousand dollars. I bought it right after it came out it's a D3 Nikon, and you've got three hundred dollars for the flash. So all in all we're talking about some serious change here. Now it can scare people to buy things used, and I want to touch on this just a little bit. Buying used equipment when it's got a computer inside of it to me it just it doesn't give me a solid feeling. I want that warranty that comes with buying things new. So me personally I would not buy something with a computer in it brand new, whereas a lens, a lens might be a different story. Now this is a VR lens I wouldn't buy this one used personally. I mean this is my opinion. I know a lot of people have had a lot of success buying used equipment off eBay, off Craigslist, and various other places online. But again I personally whenever I am buying a piece of equipment with computers I use B & H Photo. I use a couple other places online, but B & H is a really good one. It's got great prices, and that's bhphotovideo.com. Now in terms of the computers inside there is really no way to really be specific on when you place things on line and buy them used, there is no way to tell what kind of wear and tear they have gone through. And that is why it gives me kind of a wary feeling sometimes if I am buying equipment used that has those computers in it. But other things as long as it doesn't have the computer I'm pretty solid about. You can get it, you can feel it, and a lot of things have thirty day return policies things like that. But this is Tom Sapp, Tom Sapp Photography, talked about buying used equipment, buying new equipment, buying equipment in general. Online, in stores, local places, anywhere you can find it. If you find a piece of equipment, and it works for you it may be the one you want to stick with. Thank you very much."
