"Hi, my name is Rosario Nene Ortega, I'm a dance instructor, ballroom and tango at the Goddess Store in Hollywood Florida. In this clip I'm going to teach you, how to do the New York step in the rumba. In the rumba, this is the followers, we're going to go with half of the box, back, 2,3,4, okay. Now we're going to step forward, we're going to go to the side with the right, I'm going to bring my left foot forward, I'm going to pivot, side, together, okay. So, the New York step is, right, I step forward with my left, I pivot my whole body, then I take one step to the side, and I close it, this is the New York. Slow, quick, quick, slow; slow, quick, quick, slow. Let me show you from another angle, you go, back, side, together, forward, forward with the right, step with your left, and pivot with your body, turn, side, together.
