"What we have over here is the crash cymbal. Now unlike the ride cymbal it's not used for time keeping as much because it's smaller and a little bit thinner. It still has the same shape; it's a circle it's got the cymbal bell up here. It has generally the same sound but it's used to accentuate these like crashes. All the types of crash cymbals are called effect cymbals. Now this is very tiny one as you can see. I mean look at it in relation to this. It's got a very different sound. It's called a splash cymbal. See that little splashy noise to it and they use it a lot as chokes. It's called a choke when you grab it like that and you stop the sound real short. And this is called a Chinese cymbal because it originates in China. And this sounds a lot more like a gong. Again these are called effect cymbals. This is the crash cymbal."
