"Hi, this is Richard Goms, we're in Murray, Utah and we're talking about basic car care. I'm going to talk to you a little bit about how to change a rotor. In order to do this, we've already removed the caliper and we can remove the brake pads. This piece here is not on all cars but, on this particular car, we have to remove this piece in order to get the rotor off. There's a bolt in the back, in fact there's two bolts in the back, one at the top, one at the bottom, and we loosen those and take this piece off and then the rotor just slides out, that's the whole rotor right there. Now, this rotor has some uneveness on it and before you replace the brake pads, you should either replace or have this rotor repaired. In order to repair this rotor you can take it to a mechanic or an automotive parts store and they can put it on a metal lathe and turn it and make it nice and smooth again. In order to put this back on, you just line up the holes and slide it back on. Some rotors are actually part of the hub and you have to remove the hub also but this particular one doesn't have a hub, is not part of the hub, and you just slide it back on. Then, you just put this piece back on, bolt it back on, put your brake pads back on, and then put your caliper back on and then you can put your wheel and tire back."
