"Hi, I'm Athena Reich and I'm an actress, singer/songwriter and performing arts coach here in New York City. In this clip, I'm going to talk about how to finger pick on the guitar. I'm going to break it down for you really simply. Say you want to play a chord, a G chord, I've got a G chord here on my left hand. And the base note for the G chord is this. And I'm just going to focus on these three strings, okay, and the base. And the reason that's the base is that that is actually a G note that I'm playing as a G chord. So therefore, it's the base. Even slower. Now say I want to change chords to an A, the base note of A is A and this is the A. But I'm still going to focus on these three chords to keep consistency. Back to G. So just do it really slowly at first, you can, and then you can speed it up as you get better. And you can add your own rhythms, rhythmic variations, playing two notes at once. You can really funkify it later once you learn the basics. This has been Athena Reich on how to finger pick your guitar."
