"Hi, I'm Athena Reich and I'm an actress, singer/songwriter, and performing arts coach here in New York City. In this clip I'm going to talk about how to choose a musical instrument to play. First of all, assess your talent and your skills. Are you good with your hands? Well, then you might do something like piano or guitar. Are you, or have you always been able to sing and sing pitch? I mean, if you want to become a singer but you have a really hard time singing in pitch, it might not be your best choice. Or, it's something you can choose as a, you know, as a challenge. But, think about what are you skilled at? Can you hear pitch? Can you play, you know, are you very versatile with your fingers? Or, think about, what kind of music do you like to listen to? Do you love rock? Well, then you're going to do guitar, or piano, or bass, or drums. Or do you, you know, you can also walk into the music store and just try out a bunch of things. Think, oh this feels good, this feels like who I am. No man, I just want to, I love how all the notes are laid out, I just want to play the piano. But think about, do you love classical music? Well then you're going to pick a classical music, pick the piano, or pick, you know, join a classical marching band and play the trumpet. Whatever you want. Think about what kind genre you like and think about where your talent and skills lie. This has been Athena Reich and how to choose a musical instrument."
