"So here's some common mistakes that you might make while you're working a ribbing. I've started a knit 2, purl 2 rib. So one way, is if you're knitting, and you don't bring your yarn in front, but you do your purl, so you'd go to do your purl, and you'd wrap your yarn, and your yarn would come around the needle, and you'd have an extra loop on it. Another thing would be, is if you were knitting your ribbing, and you forgot, and then you have knit 3, but then you threw yourself off, and you have knit 2, and you threw your whole ribbing off, this is where you would need to unknit back to where you made your era. So you'd turn your work around, and you would unknit those stitches to get back to when you had it going the right way. So now I'm back, I can see that I've got my knit 3, (knit 2 rather) and go back to my knit 2, purl 2. Basically you just want to keep your focus that you're doing a knit 2, purl 2."
