"So I started out and I have a row of single crochet, and now we're going to make a half double crochet. For this stitch I'm going to wrap the yarn over the hook before I go into the stitch, I'm going to insert the stitch, the needle, the hook into the top of the last row, bring the yarn through. So now I've got three loops on my hook. I'm going to wrap it over and I'm going to draw it through all three. So again, I'm going to wrap the yarn over the hook, go into the next stitch, wrap the yarn again, pull it through, I've got three loops, wrap it again, draw through all three and this is going to make a slightly increased stitch. So if I were to show you them together, this is your half double, now if I do a couple of singles where I'm not wrapping it ahead of the time, you'll see that there's a difference in the height. You can see that the half doubles done at the beginning of the row are taller than the single crochet done at the end of the row."
