Hi I'm James with JNC Home Repair. Today I'm going to demonstrate on how to connect wires to a light switch. Basically coming out of a wall plug you're going to have three wires. You're going to have a black, you're going to have a green one, you're going to have a white one. What you want to do you want to splice those, this is like a sixteen gauge wire, so you want to splice maybe about three quarters of an inch off. You want to splice these down, just like so. You're going to take your needle nose pliers and bend them to the right, just like so. And you've got your new switch. What you're going to do is you're going to connect your white wire to the top just like so. You're going to need a flat head screwdriver, you can see by turning that screw to the right and having that wire bent to the right it helps keep it in place and helps makes good contact. You don't want a loose wire in there arcing out. Because a loose wire will start to spark and will start to arc and that's just a big fire hazard so you don't want to do that. You want to make sure that it's nice and, it fits in there nice and tight, just like so. If you've got any questions on how to connect any more wires or anything, you can log onto my website
