"Hey guys, today we're going to talk about how to get started being a DJ. And things have changed over the past few years, but in the past because of the cost of equipment, and the cost of records and not having a huge record collection in most cases, it prevented a lot of people from becoming DJs. You had to actually find a friend who was a DJ to apprentice you in, so to speak. Nowadays there are actually bona fide curriculums and courses offered, such as the Scratch DJ Academy, where you can actually go and take courses in the basics of DJing, with copywritten curriculums. And in most cases now there are actually video tutorials where you can learn how to become a DJ. Another major way that you can become a DJ is actually to go to the clubs that you want to spin at, get in with the promoters, get in with the DJ who is actually there spinning, and kind of be that next young guy waiting in line. If you're there and he can't show up one night, and the club promoters know you and know you're a DJ, you're likely to get the spot."
