"In this video, we'll be talking about proper pizzicato technique, which will be used playing your walking bass line. When you play with your finger, you need to use the side of your finger. You don't want to use the tip or your second finger like you would on electric bass. The whole side of your finger will give you the proper tone needed to play a walking bass line on the acoustic bass. Now, when you play, you put your finger towards the end of the fingerboard, pull on the string with the whole side of your finger and release. Just pull and release. Pull and release. This gives you the sound needed to play the acoustic bass. If you were to play it like an electric bass with your finger sideways like this, it can be done and a lot of people do it, especially when they're big chop players and they need to play fast. But to get the proper tone and, you'll hear it in a second, use your whole finger."
