"This is another technique where you're going to use a white mark on a dark ground. Black comes to mind but as long as it's not a white ground you're fine. You want again something that is a little stiffer than ordinary paper, this is poster board poster board works fine. You need a, you just need a surface that doesn't give too much and that's a little bit, this is you know the paint isn't going to soak in so fast. And you can use, you can't use poster paint because it's a little to liquid. You need something with a little bit more body in it so Gesso is usually what I end up with. This is acrylic Gesso, every company makes a Gesso and it's made usually for priming things but you know it's very permanent and you can use it for this application. This is a pallet knife. They come in various sizes and various shapes. I found this shape to be a lot of fun to work with. If you don't have a pallet knife we'll, we'll come up with some other options. So I'm just going to you know, start laying down, I think I'm going to you know maybe do you know some tulips. It's hopeful, we're hoping for spring someday so I'm going to play around with this and the idea is, is that you're going to get an instant gradation between a strong white and sort of a gray by scraping and you let some of the black come through. So the darker the paper the more effective this is going to be which is why at least you should start with a dark blue or a black or a black board to start with."
