Joel Hickerson, grindog.com. The topic is how to learn to draw. If I was to give advice on someone that wanted to learn how to draw I would first suggest taking a class, a very beginning, basic drawing class. The beginning level will teach you shapes and how to see which is a very important part of drawing is the part that teaches you how to see and how to break a complex object into simple shapes. Once you do that it becomes a lot easier. The other thing I would suggest is doodle, when you go into class or when you go to a meeting. Don't be afraid to let your hand kind of go around the paper a little bit. Maybe draw expressions or draw shapes. The more you draw the better you're going to be. I can't say that often enough. The people that draw the most continue to get better. Even when I catch myself in a meeting I'll doodle or draw every chance I get, and it just makes me a better artist. Specifically as you do progress, drawing classes that you may want to look into are figure drawing class, this will get you the shape of the human form, teach you weight, motion, basic drawing techniques, more advanced drawing techniques of some of the old masters that pretty much came up with the way that we learn to draw today. That's about all the advice as far as very general and general terms. But I think if I - if you want to learn to draw, take classes, draw all the time, that includes doodling, doodling is drawing, and as you progress, take more advanced classes and you will continue to get better.
