"Hi my name is Dave Andrews and today I am going to show you how to solve a PC Mouse freeze. Let's take a look at an optical mouse here which is the most modern type of mouse. One of the first things to check is that your mouse is actually functioning and that the computer is recognizing it and the way that you can tell that is by noticing that this red laser light is showing up on the optical mouse. Now it could be that that laser light is not reading data very well because it might be dirty. So the first thing we will do is take real soft cloth like this one and just kind of barely don't put any pressure on it just sort of wipe the lens in there a little bit and kind of clean up the area around the lens and make sure that your mouse is clean and that that is not the problem. Now on the older style mouses which are track ball mouses you have to turn with your fingers here just get them in there and turn and then a little ball will fall out and you can kind of clean up the interior area, stick the ball back in and put the cover back on it. So once you have ruled out that, you know your mouse is functioning because you have got the light on and you have gotten a clean area that it pulls the data from, let's go to a little bit of hardware stuff actually on the computer and I am in Microsoft Vista and I'm going to pull up what is called the device manager and I'm going to do so by clicking on the start menu and I'm going to type device in the search area and I'm going to go to device manager and on Windows XP you get the device manager by right clicking on my computer and going to manage and device manager will be one of your options. Scroll down here in device manager until you see mice and other pointing devices. It could be that the driver for your mouse has somehow become corrupted or is having problems and this is an Apple Mighty Mouse that I am using right here and I can just right click on it and select uninstall. It is going to warn me I am uninstalling that mouse and that mouse is going to disappear out of the pointing devices list and this would be a good time to completely unplug the mouse from the computer and plug it back in and once it is plugged in it is going to detect it and it will reinstall the driver for that mouse and you can see the Apple Mighty Mouse has been reinstalled. My name is Dave Andrews and I have just told you how to solve PC Mouse Freezes."
