"Hi folks. In this clip, we are going to learn how to sketch and draw dresses. Particularly for preliminary designs. First thing you are going to want to do is have a vision. Have a preliminary, just basic, pose already planned out. Then, go in and start to actually experiment with different designs. Obviously, you are not going to just have one idea. You are probably going to have several. So, feel free when this happens to actually try out multiple ideas using roughly the same pose and then decide how best to proceed from there. Obviously as you try out these different looks, you are going to come up with new revelations and things will start to look more and more clear to you as you progress. So, this is a great way to sort of get an idea of where to proceed. For example, we went with shoulders there. For this one, we might decide to go straps. Sort of a low bust line. Come on down for sort of an evening gown look, where as this one has more of a summer dress look to it. Let's see. That would be a different variation and style. Then, you can even just see between the two which one would be better. Or, we could even go for an even more formal sort of look. Give this one shoulders. A little more high collar. Maybe don't give her a collar. More of a blouse sort of a number. A little bit more constricting, but also a little more appropriate, depending on where we want this girl to actually be. This one can full dress, it would be like a dress skirt sort of a number. So, when you are learning how to draw dresses, the best thing to do, especially if you are doing it for design, is to give yourself options. Line up 3 different sort of preliminary sketches in a row. Really get in there and compare, side by side, what looks you think would be best for whatever the situation might be."
