The next thing I'm going to talk to you about is hand positioning. You want to make sure your hand is never straight, bent, pointed, or having too pointed. I always tell my students to keep your hand relaxed. Slightly just let your hand, don't let them fall all the way, just slight relaxed, slight curve to your hand, and that's your proper hand positioning. You can do things like hand undulations with it later on. Even when you hold them out to the side, my hand is still very soft. I'm not pointing, I'm not pointing at somebody else that's in the room while you're performing. You want to make sure, again, it stays soft. Even when you bring them up, soft hands. There's never really a point where you're going to have a straight hand or a pointing finger. So you want to make sure your hands are always at its soft position. This goes for anywhere, you bring it down around your hips, you'll know I'm framing my hips, my hands are still soft. They're not pointing, they're not bent under, just curved slightly around my hips. This is the position you want to keep your hands in when you are dancing. I tell my students this early on because they do get in the habit of pointing or keeping a straight hand. Again, just remember our soft hands.
