"To get started, let's get some ink going through our pens and do a little warming up with fitting the letters, or the marks in between the guidelines. So a good warm up is just to make a series of parallel lines. So I'm making three vertical lines, and then I'm going to make three horizontal lines. And three vertical lines, and three horizontal lines. In this exercise, we're paying attention to the place where the ink is going, and the way the lines fit within the guidelines, and also trying to achieve a pattern of very similar marks. So we're holding the pen at the same angle. We're making the marks so they're all just about the same. And again it sometimes looks easier than it actually is to do in practice."
