"The first thing you'll need to get started is a pen. And there are a lots of choices in pens. You can work with markers, which have a broad nib, such as this one. And there are many different manufacturers of markers that have many different sizes of nibs. But my favorite tool for calligraphy is a steel nib pen. And here's an example of one. This is a speed ball, and you write with the brass part up top as you're writing, and the ink rests in the inside of the pen. And in terms of a professional tool that gives you the most crisp guidelines and beautiful thick washes of color, I would recommend this sort of pen, a steel nib pin. And the C style gives us the broad nib that we're looking for. And, as with many things, when you start out it's good to use a large tool."
