"Now we're going to talk about the scuff. The scuff uses the heel part of the tap only. Just the bottom part of the heel should strike the floor as you do the scuff. It can be used as part of a more complex step or on its own. Now I'm going to show you how to execute a scuff. Lift your foot up behind you, flex your foot as hard as you can, and hit the heel on the floor. You can also try the scuff to the side. Now on the left. A scuff provides a nice loud sound for when you want to overpower the music or put an accent somewhere in your choreography. Now I'll show you the side view of the scuff. Now I'll show you the rear view. And to the left."
