"Now we're going to talk about a toe tap. Toe tap is one of the most basic moves in tap. You strike the flat part of the tap on the floor, and you can do it to the front, to the side, to the back, or anywhere in between. So now I'm going to show you how to execute the toe tap. First I'm going to start with my toe in the front. Keeping your legs straight, you're just going to bend at the ankle and strike it on the floor. Tap to the front, tap to the side, tap to the back. Now on the left foot, tap to the front, tap to the side, tap to the back. Depending on how tightly your taps are screwed into your shoes, it will affect the tone of the tap. So if you like a more hollow sound you can keep your taps looser, or if you like a crisper sound you can keep your taps tighter. I always keep a Phillips head screwdriver on hand to make sure that my taps sound just right and even on each side."
