"In this clip, I will talk about a little advice for students. Odissi dance is the oldest form of classical dance. Which requires a lot of discipline, a lot of commitment and regular practice. And as you can see, through the clips. It requires on going, regular training. There is no starting, there is no end. And you can have many, many years of training. And still not have the basic technique of Odissi. The technique that I follow is the Goti Pua technique of Odissi dance. Which requires very strong, perfect foot work to very high speed. And intricate foot work. Which is co-ordinated with an upper body movement. Which is the shoulder, the head and the eyes and the gestures. So this regular practice, is what is required. Fully, on a daily basis. To master the technique, to get the Tribhang and Chauks co-ordinated. The syllabus takes five years, before a dancer completes the repertoire."
