This next phrase of Palmas describes a little bit about how the Palmas are use and what sounds we make. The first sound we make is called Palma Sorda, which means deaf palma or it's soft clap. And we're going to do this by cupping the hands slightly yet still keep the fingers open. When I hit, you hear my sound, this is Palma Sorda. It's almost a modded sound, it's very effective to use in certain aspects of the dance or to accompany the musicians. And so the Palma Sorda is one sound that we can make. The second sound is done by taking three fingers of one hand and clapping into the center of the other hand and we call this, Palma Clara. Notice how shard this sound is by comparison to the Palma Sorda, this one is very effective for building up certain periods of heel work or to give extra accent to the dance.
