"In this clip on how to audition for a Broadway play, I'm going to talk about the journey in your monologue. Not only should you have an objective, and should you know who you're talking to in your monologue, but you want to show a little bit of a character journey, so that you show the casting directors and the producers, and whoever is on that audition panel, that you're an actress who can carry a show. You can go from point A to point B. You can have character development, so no matter what monologue you choose, figure out what is the journey. Where does your character begin in that monologue, and where does your character end up. For example, in the very short intro that I've been using from Queens Boulevard for my monologue, I could say that I start out wanting to convince her, and I end up being even more sure of myself. I end up convincing myself or I end up feeling love. I end up convincing myself of the love even more, so maybe I start out a little less, a little more insecure, and maybe more secure, so let's try that to see how that works. You try things. That's the best way. Just try it. I see that he loves me. He knows me for who I am, and he loves me. He can't help himself from loving me exactly as I am, and I love him too, exactly as he is, so there's something interesting. A journey, play with it. Make different choices as you're workshopping it, but definitely, create a journey for yourself."
