"Nowadays more and more couples are on a budget. Brides and grooms are paying for weddings themselves, which is why I'm going to talk for a minute about how to throw a Stag and Go party. A Stag and Go party is a fund raising event. It's thrown in lieu of an engagement party by the bride and groom and tickets are sold to this event, the proceeds of which go to help pay for the wedding, offset honeymoon costs, anything the bride and groom see fit. There are a couple of different ways you can do this. Rule of Thumb here is to keep cost as low as possible, while still throwing an event worthy of ticket sales. And that can be tricky. Maybe you want to rent a hall. Have anything that you can have friends pitch in would help, because you need a location, there's your hall, you need entertainment, is a friend a D.J.? You need food, if you can work a deal with a local caterer, you need drinks, you need cocktails, and then you're going to sell tickets ten to twenty five dollars a piece to just about everybody you know. You're going to stop short of public ticket sales. This is not something to put on your social networking site. You don't want literally thousands of people to come to this. You vaguely want to have an idea of who's involved, but this is far beyond invited wedding guests. You're going to invite your friends' friends' hairdresser, you're going to invite the mailman, you're going to invite anybody you know. The object of the game is to sell as many tickets as possible to raise as many funds as possible. And a lot of times people will buy tickets to this event, even if they're not coming, just to make a contribution. Now I think an alternative to the hall, a great idea here may be if you have a local pub where you're friendly with the management or the owner, maybe a bar that has its own kind of entertainment like karaoke, I'm a big fan of karaoke, work a deal with them so that you don't have to put all that money out up front. Maybe you can offer to bring in a certain number of people in exchange for a percentage of the door, a percentage of the alcohol sales for the evening. You can hold raffles, give away prizes, things like that. Whatever you do, keep your costs low, sell those tickets, make a little money and have some fun."
