Hello, my name is Rosario "Nene" Ortega. I'm a dance instructor at the Goddess Store in Hollywood, Florida. In this clip I'm going to tell you about the history of the modern dance in the early 1900s. Modern dance is a more free expression of the body. The first thing is Adora Duncan Dek was to get inspired in the Greek sculptures; to create a dance that was more rhythmically and more soft in the movement. She test it ballet shoes away, that's one of the characteristics of the modern dance; is that you dance in barefoot and you don't use the points anymore; you use more the flex and the fir movement. So in the early 1900s, it was created the Ever Rhythms, a way to express themselves in rhythm using free movements that allowed a more expression of freedom. Isadora was very popular for dancing to the Chopin and Strauss Waltzes. For you, Rosario "Nene" Ortega.
