Hi my name is Lauren and I am here to discuss how to do a top braid. Top braids are also considered more or less your head band braid. Ultimately what is is is a French Braid that goes from one corner of your ear to the other so you are literally working across the top of your head. The first thing that you are going to want to do is section out the piece that you think that you want. The thicker the diameter is of the section the thicker the braid is going to be so you can ultimately have it pretty big if you'd like to. Then what you are going to do is after you get that section done, you are going to actually split the hair starting on one side, flip the rest of the hair out of your way, if need be, grab a clip. You are then going to start with your braiding. You are then going to split that section into three sections. You are going to begin criss crossing over center in order to get the braid going. It is best if you tilt your head while you do this so that way you can get a little bit more room and you will also get a little bit more precise. Once you have already gone about two or three criss crosses in you are then going to start integrating the other hair by bringing the other hair over and adding it to the piece that you just criss crossed over. The actual braid pattern of this is more or less a French Braid. The difference here is that it is going to go across the top of your head so the holding and positioning of your hands and of your hair are going to be a little bit different. Normally the wider the section the further back you can do it. If you wanted to split it and do two or three then you can do that. I usually recommend going behind for the partings, behind the ear so that way you have enough hair in order to integrate it. Once you work your way all the way across the top of your head you are going to continue with the braid all the way down to the ends of the three strands and then you can tie it off using a bow or rubber band or anything that you would like to do in order to finish off your style and that is how to do a top braid.
