How to Make a Battle Ship Out of Paper....5

Making a paper balloon is a process of folding origami paper in such a way that it leaves only a small hole on top, which can be blown through to inflate the balloon. Create a paper balloon with instructions from a former middle school art teacher in this free video on paper crafts.

Today I'm going to show you how to make a paper balloon. We've got some wild balloons coming on here. Nice square sheet of paper and what you are going to do is take and fold it at a diagonal so you get a nice crease in here for a triangle, open it up, fold it exactly opposite so you are going to have a nice X in there, crease it and then I like to do one more fold, just one of the rectangle folds, just to help me when I'm popping it in and then do your one the other way. This will get it better so you can take and pop it in and you'll see in a minute what I mean. So you have all your folds and what you are going to do is go back to your rectangle and you're going to hold one side down and you're going to pop this side in, just like that. Same thing with the other side, hold this side down and because you have all those folds this should be real easy, just bring it in and fold it back down just like that, make sure your creases are still good and strong, maybe turn this over and catch it on the other side too. Alright you have got one side that is pretty solid closed and the other side that is pretty open. That is the side that you are going to be folding down, that is the top of your balloon. So you are going to bring this down to that middle line and to your center point and crease it and bring just one of these flaps and crease it down and what you'll be doing is on the same back side. What you are going to do now is turn this a little bit and you're going to bring this outside flap because you have four of them now but you just turned it so it is pointing towards you and you are going to bring this up to the center, point and crease it and I like to turn it at a little better angle for me and bring it up like this so that's how that side would look, turning it over you are going to do the same thing on the other side. Now once again this is the top and this is the bottom because there is nothing that I can pull out on. So what you are going to do is crease this down like this. Now there is a little pocket in here and you just open it up some and tuck this in. You have to work with it a little bit on the heavier paper just because you want it to be in there tight. So once again just bring this down to this edge that you just created, you want to fold it a little bit so it might go in some that's a little easier, find the center and tuck your tab in like this, do the same thing on the back side. So make sure all these guys are nice and creased. Now this is the side that was the top because we just got through folding it down. You can also see there is a little bit of a whoops, here it is, a little bit of a hole on the top side and before I blow it I like to fold it back a little back to give it some strength and then what you do is you just go to the top and you give it a blow. Might have to help this side a little bit. And there you go, there's your little paper ball. It's been great, have a fun time.
