Hi my name is James Flint. I'm a digital photographer and I'd like to take a moment to talk to you about macro focus on a digital camera. Some digital cameras have a macro focus feature built in to them and other digital cameras are going to require a macro focus lens. Macro focus is a term used to explain a technique the camera uses to zoom really close on objects. A lot o times people use macro focus to shoot flowers, insects, a lot of coin collectors and stamp collectors, they use macro focus lenses or macro focus settings to take photographs of very small things. This allows you like say you were taking a picture of your lucky dime or a very valuable coin, without a macro focus lens you're going to take a picture and say it is a 4 X 6 picture you know the coin is going to be maybe actual size in that print which is not going really going to show a lot of detail but if you have a macro focus lens or a macro focus setting on your camera you'll be able to zoom so far up on this object and keep it in focus that if you were printing a 4 X 6 image you'd be able to fill almost the whole 4 X 6 canvas with this object although it may be less than an inch in width. In my camera I could either put a macro focus lens on, I don't have one of those but I have this macro focus setting. It is represented by a flower on the spin wheel and that is actually a very common icon used to determine or to tell a user about macro focus settings. So again macro focus settings are often built in to cameras but they can also be achieved by having an additional macro focus lens and what macro focus allows you to do is to get very close and very sharp details on very small objects such as coins or flowers.
