Joel Hickerson, grindog.com. Today we're going to explore what are the functions of the line art. Specifically we're going to talk about a line of action. And this line of action you can start straight up, would be maybe a figure just standing there, following the line of action. Or, maybe he's in motion, leaning forward, or possibly reclined. Other uses would be maybe for a pet, a dog. That's a pretty good example. Before I ever start drawing anything, I'll create some sort of guide and that's basically what the line of action does, whether it's standing still, in motion, reclined or even to create a structure for your animal. And that's one of the functions of the line in art.
