Hi, I'm Rebecca Guenther with www.m5a1photography.com and I'm going to talk to you about what is dot gain in photography. This is kind of an odd question because dot gain in reality has, I mean nothing to do with the process of photography in just about any way. It really is more an effect that you deal with when going to print. So, any good printer that you go to would be able to help explain to you what dot gain is and how to counteract it. It could be, you know, it could cause desaturation of your images as they go from screen to print or it could mean that the images go a little bit darker. But, again these effects are things that can be counteracted and should be counteracted by any good print shop. So, you might want to go into your local print shop or whoever it is that does your prints and ask them about, you know, dot gain, how they counteract it and how you can make sure that your prints are going out, you know, really as good as they should. And that's really just what dot gain has more to do with in photography.
