How to Manually Tune an Acoustic Guitar

"Hi, my name is Tom, I'm doing this video for expertvillage.com. In this installment what I want to do is show you how to tune a guitar. Now there are some easy ways; you can go in to a music store pick up a pitch pipe or you can get a cheap little electronic tuner. These electronic tuners would help you tune each string. But for those of you that want to buy guitars and nothing else, here is the poor mans way to tune your guitar. You basically have 6 strings on your guitar. The low string should be tune to a E. So you tune that to a E. You can use a pitch pipe, a piano, you tune that to a E. To find what the next string is the next lower string is you count up 5 frets. 1,2,3,4,5, put your finger right there between the frets that is the next string along. They should match so you can hear that those sound the same. That means the next string is in tune. To tune the following string I repeat the pattern I count up 5 1,2,3,4,5 and it should sound like the next string. I repeat that pattern again for the following string.
