Now Dan has his impact gun, he's going to reach through the access holes in the axle and back each of the four nuts out in order to be able to pull the axle through. The axle is held in by a bearing and that retaining plate presses against the bearing to hold the axle in. The axle has splines on the opposite end that go into the differential. The differential won't slide out as long as the axles are in it. So you can see that the brake backing plate moved there when he pulled that last nut off so now the axle should come right out. It's not a cram fit or a pressed fit or anything. It'll drop a little bit of oil out when it comes out. He's going to slide it out careful being careful not to beat up any of the splines or anything.
