"Hi! This is Stephany from Stephany’s Simply Sewing. I’d like to show you how we turn our collar and get it ready for topstitching. We’ve already stitched and graded our seams, and now we’re ready to turn it. If you visualize turning it and trying to wad all this up in the corner it’s not very pretty, so what I’m going to do is look where my stitching line is there and kind of cut across so I no longer have that bulk. Then going to reach in and turn my collar, which is basically like turning a skirt or a shirt inside out or right side out in this case. After we have turned it, I have an old toothbrush that has been filed off. Many of you have used these for rugs. I like to use it because it helps to push that corner out just a little bit so you can have a really nice crisp corner. Remember, you do need to press this. I’ve already pressed this end. The way you press it is to go ahead and make sure that your seam is kind of rolled towards the back, and then we press it down so that when we come back and topstitch it you will have a nice finished edge on your collar. That is how we turn a collar."
