Okay, in this segment, I'm going to show another method of removing solder. Its not one I particularly like, but some people seem to find enjoyment out of it. It's using something called Chemwick, I guess that?s a brand name, or just solder wick. It?s basically, just a braided solder, and you apply, you push the braid right on top of the solder area you want to remove and you heat it up and it just kind of sucks the solder out like a sponge. So, let?s once again turn on the soldering iron, safety glasses of course, and here we go. That heated up real nice, real quick. Great! Okay, once again, steam test, you probably heard that. I think I'll heat up the solder first, try that. It's a lot of solder, so it?s probably going to take a little while. Here we go, I see it?s starting to liquefy. Put this down on it. The copper will heat quicker because it's copper. The great conductor of heat. There you go, you can slowly see it kind of, there you go, filling up the wick. There you go, see how it got kind of bright a little bit? Okay, and that?s how to remove solder using solder wick.

If you apply to much heat to joint it can damage copper pads and conductors on printed circuit board.
