"Hi! I'm Kip Bradford and I am here on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we are going to talk about seasoning the tip of your new soldering iron or new tip because you can replace the tips on many of the different types of soldering irons. If you have a brand new soldering iron or put on a brand new tip and you want to do this occasionally with an older tip and this one here we are not going to change because it is not wore out yet, what you would do is get it hot and take your solder and run a glob of solder on your soldering iron and then on a moistened sponge, just roll the tip and wipe the solder off. Now when you are seasoning for the first time, you will want to do this three or four times to get it good and seasoned and it is going to leave some solder on the tip and that is what you want. You want it to end up looking like this where the tip is just a little bit solderly looking and shiny and that is really all there is to season the tip. There again even though this one has been seasoned, it is a good idea to do this occasionally and always keep a moist cloth or sponge to clean the tip between solder joints. "
