"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. I've chosen my beads and I've arranged them. I want both ends to be the same, so I've chosen my beads and I lined them up. That makes it a lot easier to work with. Let's trim off this bit. Then just bead your beads one at a time. Nothing fancy. The beads stores now come in an amazing range of beads. All kinds of styles, colors, and textures. You can find glass and wood. It's nice to play around with the beads and arrange them before you actually start beading. That way you know you're going to like it before you get started. That's one end and then we want to tie a figure 8 knot here. You'll finish it off here so that the beads won't fall down in your book. To do the figure 8 knot, hold your beads like this and go cross over in front of the string, around and back, and then through like this. Makes a little figure 8. Just pull all your beads through that little figure 8. Keep it loose so that you can move your knot down as close to the beads as possible. it doesn't have to be super tight. The beads are able to float a little on there. That kind of gives it a nice feel when they float a little on the string. You don't want to pull it up too tight but you want to get it fairly close so pull that figure 8. You also want to make sure that when you tie your figure 8 knot that the hole on the last bead will be stopped by that figure 8 knot. You don't want to use a bead like this that has a very large hole for your end bead. You want to use a smaller hold bead for that end bead so that the knot will stop the beads from coming down. Next, we're going to measure to see how large a book we're going to put that in."
