on 2/9/2009 I concur. I watched several of the videos in this set to see if he's serious or joking around, and he seems to be serious... but he has no idea what he's doing. Every comment he makes is useless at best, harmful at worst, especially to beginners. He is the polar opposite of an expert on congas. Please remove these videos!

on 8/2/2008 This guy has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. It appears as if he has had no formal training of any kind and is just playing the congas any way he wants. He has no techinque whatsoever.

I would recommend to anyone out there to avoid these videos like the plague if you are looking to learn the congas. Expert Village should remove these videos from their site.

"RYAN LARSON: So, today, we're going to go over the conga. We have all these different approaches. That's a muted approach. And we're going to go through and look at the different techniques for playing it. We're going to look at just playing with one conga, playing with two congas, playing with one conga with just a solo instrument, playing with an entire band. We're going to go over tuning and how to set up this stand appropriately 'cause if you don't set up your stand right, it's just going to keep falling on you. And actually, this stand isn't set up right as you can see. Actually, these guys are good. Well, we'll go through and show you some of the problems you'll have encountering the conga and just overall, a well-rounded approach to the instrument and how to play by yourself and with other people and get some simple, basic rhythms down."
