"This is Rhett Reiger, White Caspian Studios on behalf of Expert Village. I want to talk for a brief minute about location scouting. Now in a big shoot there is a location scout or many of them that actually go out, get all of the clearances done and make sure that these locations all appeal to the director for the type of movie that he or she is going to create. However, again on a low budget film there's not often money to pay a crew of people to go out and do this. Now hopefully you have somebody, a production assistant, or location scout part time that is going to get all of the clearances signed and that's kind of a different department but for this discussion I want to mention that the, it's very, very important that you do your location scouting because if somebody shows you a picture of a place and says this would be make a great location for your movie and you just go with that but you don't see it yourself you may be very disappointed when you get there and it doesn't fit for what you had in your mind and it's so important as a director that you're creating the story that you want to create and that the writer wanted to create not what somebody’s opinion of it was. So very important to go out to the locations, walk around, talk with the owners if you can, tell them what you're doing, build a little excitement, put a little glitz on there and let everybody knows this is a very valuable spot. This is going to create just the kind of atmosphere that we need for our film."
