"Alright. Now we're going to talk about the melody of the beat or of the song. You want to mix that next. You've got the bass line, you got your kick, you got your hi-hat. You want to mix your melody in there. Now the melody, that should be in the middle. It shouldn't be to the right, shouldn't be to the left, because that's the thing that's catching people. But, you want that pretty loud where people when they hear the melody then they understand that that's the melody of the song. You don't want it too loud thought that that's all they hear. In rap songs the kick is the driving force in the song. These are in most cases. But, you want to have your melody in there where people can hear the melody pretty good and it's in the middle where people when they play it, if they just listen to the left side they hear it. If they're listening just to the right side they hear it. And if they're listening to them both they hear it straight in the middle. You want to have your melody in there. I'm going to give you an example of mixing the melody. This is the melody. That's the melody right there. You want to have it at a pretty good level where people just clearly hear that melody. So you just want to continue just to mix it till' you get the melody where you can hear the melody pretty good and you're pretty done. You're done with the mix on the melody once you've got it to a place that you like. And sometimes melodies are different instruments in rap beats. They can be pianos, whatever you want the melody to be. A lot of sounds are synth sounds. A lot of Little John's songs they use synth sounds. But, your melody can be any sound, but what you want to do is you want to have that melody part. You want to have that in the middle so wherever if people listen to just the left side, the right side. A lot of times at clubs they're only playing one side of the speaker anyway and you want to have that melody right in the middle so everybody hears it."
