"The first piece of equipment that we're going to discuss is the quarter inch instrument cable. Now, it's called a instrument cable because it can be used on a variety of different instruments, not just the guitar. But the important thing is the size of the cable. You'll notice here as we've seen earlier the jack. The sound would be picked up by the magnets here on the pickups. It would go down to the jack and then you would need this quqrter inch cable to come out of the guitar and go into the amplifier where the sound would be magnified. Now, this year would be a quarter inch jack due to the size of this plug right here. Now you'll notice a couple things about it. This one happens to be a right angle. We'll see that more with patch cables. But the important thing is that this plug would be able to go into the amplifier, or the guitar. They're interchangeable. There's no one end that has to go into an amp or one end that has to go into a guitar."
