on 12/13/2008 Thank you so much, You are truly in angel sent from Heaven. God has always said to speak life into everyone surrounding us and even ourselves. Now I am a person who sings off pitch, but I love to sing, Mr. Black, I love to sing so much I dream that Im on stage singing , I wake up and Im singing. Now everyone around me has always told me that singing is a gift your born w/ but something told me singing is no different than any other art form that can be learned. I thank you for encouraging us unbelievers and the ones who fear the opinions of others. Because from today on my goal is to sing so beautifully that they will think I was born w/ my song, but, like i've just been reinforced by my fellow brother I will assure them they can work at it too. Thank you God! Oh yeah, and I also want to thank you for sharing this piece of knowledge for free and not putting a price tag on God's gift. Not to say that vocal teachers shouldn't get paid for their work but placing this knowledge in peoples hearts shouldn't cost ANYTHING, Thank you so much and may GOD bless you and your family for eternity. I Love You and When I win my Grammy I'll remember to shout you out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

on 11/7/2008 Wow... This made me feel a whole lot better. Well ever since I was little I loved to sing... And it's just been something I do but I never thought about taking it to a new level cause I didn't think I had what it takes. Well since a few months ago I have been singing around my friends and they all say "Ohh you have a good voice" blah blah. One of my friends even wants me to sing for his band. When I record my voice and listen to it I like hate it lol... And I'm afraid to take singing lessons and get let down. But this video made all the difference. Maybe I wont be able to you know become famous but hey I can be in my friends band for fun. I just want to find a voice teacher who is as cool and encouraging as you. :/ I don't know what to look for though.

" Hey! I am Mark Black and welcome to expertvillage.com. We are going to be talking about vocal performance. I firmly believe and many people believe that you are able to build your voice and lot of teachers take an approach that’s really more of a discovery process. “I am just trying to find out if you are talented, do you have talent? No, you don’t. Get out of here!” And I don’t believe that at all and I do not mean it because I am so cool. it doesn’t seem to be my experience. it seems to me that if you brought actually 10 favorite albums of your 10 favorite vocalist, yes three of them would be like “you know I was singing when I was 4,” all like this, but you know, six or seven of them are going to be like “you know, I work my butt off, I practiced, I was there on time,” and if you buy their biography, and certainly that is my experience in working with professional musicians that some of them are “yes I was talented” and that’s the most important thing in the world, but more people than that who seem to be just as good are people who work and succeeded and they develop themselves and work themselves. I am just telling you that because I want you to be encouraged I want you to try and develop your voice and not to look at it like, if you can hear the difference, from this note, and that this note, if you can tell which one of this is higher and lower then as far as I am concerned you can develop your voice. If you cannot hear the difference between those notes at all, which one is higher or lower, then you probably tone deaf, but again that is like one person at a 10,000 is actually tone deaf. Everybody else can develop their voice. Does that mean you are going to make an album? Does that mean people are going to be beating down your door? Not necessarily, but it may just mean that you can sing in a choir or you can sing for your family and sing for yourself and it will be a beautiful fun thing for you. So, I just want to tell you that I firmly believe in your ability to succeed and that working on things, especially if you get with the big teachers somebody that can encourage you and direct you, even if it is just for a season, that you can accomplish great things and that is a wonderful thing to do."
