How to do a Coin Prediction Magic Trick

"Hi everybody! Let's talk about the first of our mind reading tricks and stuff around the office. I'm going to introduce you to a principal now that's most commonly called the magicians choice. I'm going to show you with these coins, but the principal will apply to other objects. Later on I'm going to show you how to use this in some different ways. Basically, what I'm going to do is make them pick the quarter. In the card trick segment, which you can also access here at Expert Village, we talked about forcing. This is actually a form of forcing and it just applies to something other than cards. You want to write a prediction that says you will choose the quarter or whichever one of the coins you want them to pick. You can lay these out however you want. Sometimes I like to put the quarter in the middle, in the end. It doesn't really matter. You're going to have the point to 2 of the coins. Basically, the first time Mr. Hand did it he pointed to these 2 and I eliminated them. The way this works is you're actually changing the rules as you go because you didn't tell them what they were. If he points to these 2, I'm eliminating these. I'm saying that leaves the quarter. The prediction; you will choose the quarter. Now, let's say he had pointed to these 2 coins, the quarter and the penny. I would say okay we'll eliminate the dime and then I would have him push a coin toward me. He can push this and I would say okay we'll eliminate the penny, or he could push this and I'll say okay we'll eliminate the penny. Either way you will eliminate the penny. There's only 2 ways that can happen. They're either going to point to the 2 that you don't want to force and leave that one or they're going to point to your force object and one other one and then you add the second steps. So if they point to these 2, you say we'll get rid of the penny. Then you can say push one toward me. They push the quarter toward you, you say okay we'll eliminate the dime leaving the quarter. The push the dime toward you and you say okay we'll eliminate the dime leaving the quarter. Then your prediction says you would choose the quarter. That's how you do a basic version of the magicians choice and a cool trick that you can do so have fund with that."
