" Hi! Malik the Magic Guy for expertvillage.com. Now I’m going to show you another way to force a card using a die. Now let’s have Mr. Hand come over for a minute, and Mr. Hand, I’d like you to roll the die as many times as you want until you end up with a number you’re happy with. Okay, you like the 2, what we’re going to do is take the 2 and add it to the number on the bottom, the 5, to make a 7. And that’s going to—if we deal 7 cards, the 7th card is going to be our force card, the ace of spades. Now let me explain to you how that works. There’s actually a principle of dice that, on 6-sided dice, the opposite sides add up to 7; so no matter what number Mr. Hand rolls, if we add it to the bottom, we’re always going to end up with a 7. Now you can use this for a bunch of other really cool tricks, but for now it works great as a card force if you’re going to do a simple kind of trick. So we want to put our ace of spades 7th from the top, so 6 cards on top of it. We’re going to have Mr. Hand roll the die, and he can roll it as many times as he wants until he gets a number he’s happy with because it doesn’t matter: he’s getting 7 whether he likes it or not, so you get to exert little control there. So we’ll add the 3 and the 4—that’s going to make 7. We count down, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. The 7th card is our force card, the ace of spades. So that’s the way to use a single die to force cards."
