    If I am not mistaken, 'alla prima' means "all at once" and refers to completing a painting all in one setting, usually using wet pigments throughout. I believe the technique you have demonstrated (and very well, I might add) is actually 'grisaille,' which is the technique of under-painting the values of a piece in a neutral or gray, and then glazing over it with color.
