"Hi, my name is Sean Beck at Mom's Tattoos in Wilmington, North Carolina on behalf of Expert Village here to tell you a little bit about tattoo after care. Alright, I'm going to tell you a little bit about scabbing. We are going to assume your artist did a good job and we are going to move right onto you having to take care of it. During the process of your tattoo your skin is going to look like it is sweating, oozing, a lot of clear liquid. This is plasma coming out of your skin trying to form a scab. Your body wants to form a scab, it is very natural, you have an open wound. Scabbing is really bad for your tattoo though. It will dry up, it will grab the ink and if any scab is pulled off or you pick any of the scabs off, it will pull ink out of your skin. If you do get a lot of scabbing and it tears your tattoo apart and you come back to your tattoo artist they are going to know that you got a lot of scabbing because it looks a very distinctive way. In the case of you do actually get a scab on your tattoo, leave it alone. Don't pick at it, don't scrub it, I mean you are going to have to scrub it to keep it clean, but don't pick at it, just leave it alone, keep it moisturized. A lot of times these things will soften up and they will release themselves and they won't take a lot of ink with them. But if you do get a scab, just baby it. Don't pick at it, don't try to encourage it, don't try to take it off your skin, just leave it alone. Basically through keeping your tattoo clean and keeping it moisturized using the suram wrap at night, this will prevent scabbing and your tattoo will heal up much faster and a lot more nicer. "
