These masterpieces, sometimes dating back 4 thousand years before Christ, can be found in museums all over the world. The great meticulous detail given to these mosaics takes an amazing amount of time but is worth the effort. We all can't wake up some morning able to create beautiful mosaic art like those found in Saint Peter's Basilica, but we can work up to that ability. The beginning is a good place to start for beginner mosaic artists. And creating a mosaic tile table is a perfect starter project for beginners. Mosaic tables can be created with any size clay tiles that you can design yourself. With help from our expert ceramic artist, some creativity, and a little bit of elbow grease you can learn how to create your own mosaic ceramic tiles and arrange them in the design that you choose for a mosaic table.

In this free how-to video series, learn how to make a mosaic tile table from expert potter Susan Ting. Susan will show you how to design a mosaic clay tile table, how to trace that design onto clay, and how to cut the design out of clay. She will demonstrate how to smooth the edges of the tile, how to add detail to the clay tile design, how to glaze the clay tile, and how to arrange the clay tiles to make a clay tile mosaic table.

"My name is Susan Ting I'm a potter with Zenclay Galleries Studio and Cafe. On behalf of Expert Village and I welcome you here and this time I'm going to show you how to make a tile table. To do a clay table, mainly is measure the width of the table that you're going to do. We're going to do today is a 12x12, a little stand. The clay will do the shrinkage just right so the grog could go on. So of course the biggest part is to design your table. Since I'm a gangle specialist then I will do with the gangle leaves on my table. This is a piece of paper just to work on your design. I will find the center point first and I will draw, find out where my gangle leaves are going to be roughly."
