Video: Art Supplies You'll Need for Acrylic Painting

Hi I'm Melody on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to create an acrylic painting. I want to show you the tools that you'll be using first and I'll just show you some of the basics. A can or jar of water I prefer the can is bigger you can clean it frequently if it gets dirty, a container to hold some of your items. We'll start off with this, this is fairly an important item. This is a pallet and they have several different kinds, they come in squares, they come in boxes, they come on in sheets of paper you can tear away and this is the one I brought today. It holds your paints, and as you want to mix you drag them off into here with the brush and mix them and I'll just show you that in a future segment. A soft enough pencil that you don't have to push hard and make deep impressions on your canvess. I have this just for myself because you can very lightly use a regular pencil if you don't have type of charcoal or soft like pencils. We have a ruler, for making our straight lines and angles, and our initial drawing. Its already in composition with that and then we have here today are some basic colors, from the color wheel of acrylic paints. Some of the brushes that you want to have would be a wide brush, an angle brush, and if you like the the filbert type which is oval at the top well get at least on of those. I have several because they are at least one of my favorites. And also as you can see this is also a filbert. You need to have alot of paper towels. I already have a use for one, I have glue on my finger. I know this looks strange but if you put your paints in here and your not finished with you painting put it in the baggie and mash it down. It will preserve the paint at least until tomorrow so you can get back to your painting before its completely hard and not usable. And then another of my tricks is hand cream. It doesn't matter what kind it is you just put the hand cream on before you start to paint. Next segment we'll show you how to use some of these tools.
