Hi. I'm Michael Seto. In this clip we're going to talk about using plexi-glass in photography. What do we need plexi-glass for? Really, what I like to use the plexi-glass for in jewelry photography is as a base. Something to set the jewelry on top of and when you're photographing it, it often will lend a nice color. We've got a couple of options. The quick and easy way of shooting something is just put a white piece of paper or a white sweep, we call it in the business, under it and shoot it that way. But that, that tends to be limited. Sometimes it’s tough with a white piece of paper, to get it to be pure white. There's a couple different types of plexi-glass you can use. This is a frosted plexi-glass, some people call it acrylic, it's pretty much the same thing, a piece of plastic. Light comes through here, it's a little more translucent, so you can get some interesting effects light, which you're shooting from the bottom, that's that. You can use a black piece of plexi-glass which gives some very good reflections off of whatever object you're shooting, that comes in very handy. The last and most useful piece is the white translucent plexi-glass. This is a two by two-foot piece that cost thirty bucks at your hardware store or a sign shop. This is the most useful piece of equipment for shooting jewelry when you want it to be on a white background. You put a light underneath this, it lights up very nicely and it's something that probably everyone wants to get for good jewelry photography.
