"Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I am a professional guitar instructor and today we will be discussing slide guitar and slide guitar techniques. Another aspect of slide technique involves the right hand and now you have the choice of playing either by using a pick or a plectrum, in which case the picking technique is exactly the same as it is normally would be… or by using the fingers. Finger picking with the right hand, usually I like to use my thumb and index finger or P and I fingers. The advantage I feel to using the index to using the finger picking is that I can mute out when bouncing back and forth between strings, and I get a little bit snappier sound as far as I am concerned, I kind of pull up on the string and will get a little snappier sound, and when bouncing back and forth between the strings it allows me to mute out strings with my right hand and to be able to pick both strings together with more of a simultaneous attack, then with the pick where one string is picked and the next but it just depends on the situation as to which one you want to use."
